Top 5 Most Expensive Diamonds in The World

“Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend” - it is said in the famous musical film "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". And this is true! No woman can stand indifferent to the magic beauty of diamonds, but words are nothing when we discuss the most valuable diamonds in the world. These stones stand out not only with their incredible values, but also perfect form and history.

But let's talk less, and show more!

 5. Graff Pink Diamond - $46 million

This is a huge 24.78 carat pink diamond also known as Fancy Intense Pink Diamond. It is outstanding with its exceptional color and purity. The diamond was owned by American celebrity jeweler Harry Winston, who described it as "one of the greatest diamonds ever discovered". In 2010 this amazing pink diamond mounted on a platinum ring was sold at Sotheby's auctioneers in Geneva for $46 million. The buyer was British diamond merchant Laurence Graff.

 4. The Pink Star - $83 million

The Pink Star is the largest fancy vivid pink diamond ever discovered. This 59.60 carats diamond was discovered in Africa, in 1999. On 13 November, 2013 it appeared at auction for the first time and was expected to be sold at about $60 million, but it hit the final price of $83 million. It was bought by New York diamond cutter Isaac Wolf who renamed it The Pink Dream.

3. De Beers Centenary Diamond - $100 Million

This magnificent diamond was discovered in South Africa’s Premier Mine in 1986. The De Beers Centenary Diamond weigh at 273.85 carats. For its clarity it has been rated as Grade D which is the highest for colorless diamonds. The company De Beers has spent 3 years in cutting the Centenary Diamond giving it a heart shape.  It was displayed in the Tower of London for several years thereafter, and is now privately owned. The estimated price of this diamond is around $100 million.

2.  The Hope Diamond - $250 Million

The Hope Diamond also known as the King's Jewel is probably one of the most famous diamonds in the world. It weights 45.52 carats and its color is classified as Fancy Dark Grayish-Blue. The diamond is now located at Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC, where it appeared in 1958 when  Harry Winston bequeathed it to the museum. The estimated value of this magnificent piece is around $250 million.

The Cullinan Diamond - $2 biliion

And finally in the first place is the Cullinan Diamond found in magnate Sir Thomas Cullinan’s South African mine in 1905. It is the largest diamond ever found. Its original weight  was breathtaking - 3,106,75 carats (621.35 grams), but it was cut to nine gemstones that became part of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. The biggest part of it is the Great Star of Africa or Cullinan I which weighs over 530 carats. The original Cullinan is estimated to be a $2 billion becoming worlds the most expensive diamond.

At the end I should say that there are another two famous and valuable diamonds in the world that I haven't enlisted here - the Sancy Diamond and koh-i-noor, they are simply priceless.

I was really excited in making this list hope you also enjoyed reading it.
